That should not be much of a problem, but I think it should be optional.

That's a bigger problem, because Visual D has no idea about semantics, e.g. it does not know the type of the identifier before a dot. It could only list all identifiers, and that is probably too much. Maybe it could show possible completions while typing any identifier as Visual Assist does, but this sometimes gets in the way while modifying identifiers while navigating through the source...
