Since DMD 0.132 introduced Ddoc into the compiler, there doesn't seem to be a need for this project any more. In any case, it can't be called ddoc.

It seems as though it has served its purpose -- Walter became convinced it was important. And he's used the name.

It would be nice to post a news item (or at least a forum post) about the fate of this project.

It is interesting that Walter 'stole' the name Smile

However ~ I doubt the D documenter will ever get to the stage where it's competitive with, say, doxygen. Therefore there would seem to be a need for a more sophisticated document builder (cross linking, code formatting, TOC, etc). Perhaps it would be valuable to use the XML produced by the D compiler from a documentation aspect, but the other attributes will still require much more work.

I think it would be worthwhile clarifying (with Walter) just how far he intends to take the D compiler documentation facilities. I suspect we'd find that it would be a somewhat minimalist approach.

I think that it'd be a good idea to use XML output by DMD's Ddoc.
