Since DMD 0.132 introduced Ddoc into the compiler, there doesn't seem to be a need for this project any more. In any case, it can't be called ddoc.
It seems as though it has served its purpose -- Walter became convinced it was important. And he's used the name.
It would be nice to post a news item (or at least a forum post) about the fate of this project. |

It is interesting that Walter 'stole' the name
However ~ I doubt the D documenter will ever get to the stage where it's competitive with, say, doxygen. Therefore there would seem to be a need for a more sophisticated document builder (cross linking, code formatting, TOC, etc). Perhaps it would be valuable to use the XML produced by the D compiler from a documentation aspect, but the other attributes will still require much more work.
I think it would be worthwhile clarifying (with Walter) just how far he intends to take the D compiler documentation facilities. I suspect we'd find that it would be a somewhat minimalist approach.
My 2 cents. |

I think that it'd be a good idea to use XML output by DMD's Ddoc.

I suspect other than fixing bugs in the current implementation he's added the features that he wants to add.
For example, he doesn't seem interested in adding syntax highlighting for numbers (not that it'd be hard to do, but he doesn't see the need for it). I'm not saying that numbers have to be highlighted, but D2HTML has put numbers in a different color for years now, and I think it's a nice feature. |
