|

I've got my first ArcLib sample app to build, however when running it under Kubuntu I get a message that the Linux framebuffer '/dev/fb0' could not be opened.
Does ArcLib require a FrameBuffer under Linux? And if so does that mean that ArcLib-developed games can't run on a remote X-Windows display? _________________ "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." - A. Einstein |

I did get this problem solved with no need to work at the framebuffer level. I simply visited 'System->KInfoCenter' from my Kubuntu/Ubuntu desktop and noted the type of video card it reported (which I also double checked by Googling for my computer make/model), and then searched for the name of the video card manufacturer in Adept.
Adept found an available driver which I installed, and then the sample 'Hello World' ArcLib app started working.
Now, time to go find some spritesheets! ... _________________ "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." - A. Einstein |
