New Road to v.2 for upcoming D 1.0
Projected Due by: Jan 1, 2007
Here are the major changes that will have been made for Arc v.2
Library Changes
[100?] - New GUI system
[100?] - New logger system, meant to give more detailed info and redirect output as needed
[100?] - SDL_mixer sound system replaced with OpenAL sound system, allows for more dynamic sound features such as dynamic pitch changes
[100?] - The same resource will never be loaded twice
[99?] - Re-organization of directory structure
[80?] - New Physics System
[42?] - Arc Unit Test Project Complete
[0?] - GUI Designer
[0?] - Remove any useless features/code
[0?] Update FreeUniverse to the current Arc version
Other library work
[0?] - Update setting up arc tutorial
[0?] - Tutorial on writing a simple game
[0?] - Updated documentation
Arc v.3 Features
Cross platform networking library
Figure out a way to make .ttf fonts render nicely when they are small

Since Clay will not have a lot of time to work on arc in the future, I will take over maintaining the library and maybe - if time allows - advancing it to an Arc v.2-worthy state.
My current goals are
* integrating physics and graphics through a scenegraph
* cleanups
* finish unittests
* documentation updates
* reactivation of the asteroids example game
* see the 'arc 0.2' milestone in the roadmap section
Any help is welcome! |
