#1) Is the ares code top secret? It doesn't have a project page set up for it and i need to type in a password to access subversion from http://svn.dsource.org/svn/projects/ares

#2) Is ares ready to replace phobos? If not, when will it be?

Just wondering if ares was suiteable for projects now, or if it is a behind closed doors project to be released in the future.

edit: just looked at the ares.zip file. why not use the svn on dsource?

brad was waiting on setting up a SVN tree until Ares got off the ground, and it never really got there. I've been maintaining the source myself and it was easiest to just put it up on my website. It works, in that it's all you need to run a D program, but it's not yet a replacement for Phobos as there's really no library there yet. Just essential functionality. So unless you don't need any real library code I'd say it's not ready yet.

It will be a replacement, though there is nothing preventing you from running Phobos as a part of Ares (minus std.thread). I've considered packaging Phobos in a compatibility area anyway, but have so far avoided it as it would add significantly to DMD release maintenance for Ares.

Ok. I also recently ran pthread.h through the h2d process, and here are the results.

http://svn.dsource.org/projects/warbots/trunk/RaknetPort/pthread.d

I don't know if it would be helpful at all for you though.
