When implementing the image loading features on Motif I had trouble getting the XPM loader to work so I've decided to rely on imlib (see http://freshmeat.net/projects/imlib/) for image loading. That way it will have pretty much the same range of formats as GTK available. The downside is that users have to make sure they have imlib installed and one of MinWin's goals was to limit the amount of extra dependencies above and beyond the standard OS libraries. I've been using it to load in the empire bmp images.
Any comments on problems this could force on Motif users? Motif is pretty old so I wouldn't be surprised if imlib isn't pretty standard for them anyway. |
