Here's some basic information about the current version, that has landed into the subversion. It should be compilable with a little extra effort. Some things to help you in the process are at the end of this post.
Pihlaja is not usable yet.
It will be a scene-based non-linear video/audio editor.
Currently it's using the following libs:
gtkD http://www.dsource.org/projects/dui/browser/trunk/gtkD
gstreamerD bindings for GStreamer http://www.gstreamer.net
and Cairo http://cairographics.org
Checkout http://www.pihlaja.org for some screenshots while waiting for a release.
Here's one screenshot: http://pupuedit.sourceforge.net/screenshots/pihlaja_04_04_2007.png
Stuff you need to know when trying to compile
Here's some very drafty installation instructions if you want to try to compile Pihlaja.
I'm using Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake. I'll update to Feisty when it's released.
You'll have to install the latest versions of GStreamer and GNonLin to make Pihlaja work even a little.
Install DMD. I'm using version 1.010 currently.
Get compd, from the dool library.
Code: | svn co http://svn.dsource.org/projects/dool |
Get gtkD from svn doing something like:
Code: | svn co http://svn.dsource.org/projects/duit |
Go to it's subdir /trunk/gtkD/
and make the .makeAll.sh executable. Execute
Then execute
Code: | ./compdGStreamerD.sh |
Grab Pihlaja from svn:
Code: | svn co http://svn.dsource.org/projects/pihlaja |
Go to it's subdir /trunk/pihlaja/src/build
and execute
Oh, and that uses an old version of Build at the moment. So you need Build,
or you could use some other similar tool on src/build/pihlaja.d execute
to run it.
Lot's of things are broken currently, and Pihlaja crashes all the time,
so don't expect anything yet.

Looking nice so far !
How did you do that node part we can see in the first screenshot ? Is it some kind of gtk widget ? Did you write your own ? Looks a bit like blender's UI |

A short answer, because I have to go to sleep: The node stuff, and the whole canvas ("the windows" that are actually called scenes in Pihlaja) that you see there, is drawn with Cairo. |
