I put some patched GDB binaries up at gdcwin/gdcgnu/gdcmac on SourceForge.
I called the 6.3 patch "GDB-D 0.2" and the 6.5 patch "GDB-D 0.0" (for now)... |

Does anyone know what the upstream status of the GDB patches are ? |

They ain't gettin' into GDB. In order to be considered, someone would have to re-write the whole patch to do it the "correct" way. I'm not certain what that way is, but I know I don't have the patience to do it.

I found these two threads, from you and from Thomas, about it:
GDB 6.3 (John Demme)
http://sourceware.org/ml/gdb-patches/2005-04/msg00039.html
GDB 6.4 (Thomas Kuehne)
http://sourceware.org/ml/gdb-patches/2006-04/msg00259.html
It seemed to be more about GPL/signing copyright over to the FSF,
and rewriting the code to the GNU coding standards than "never" ? |

I was talking about my patch, specifically actually. Thomas' patch might stand a chance if he can work out the copyright, refactor it into two patches (one putting the demangler in libiberity and one for the rest of it) and also refactor his code to "GNU coding standards"... The discussion was mostly about copyright, but there are other issues with it as well.

Yeah, and that's not even including trying to keep up with all the language additions. Seems like updating GDB/patches will take some amount of effort...
Thanks for the work on the patches, hopefully the binaries will make more people use it and thus (even more hopefully) report bugs and patches too. |
