in the project main page the only model proposed is L4.
there are currently 3 L4 implementations:
Pistachio by University of karlsruhe
Fiasco by TU Dresden
Pistachio embedded by NICTA
Pistachio seems the best choice for a translation since it can run on many architectures (alpha x86 sparc arm ppc etc.. ) and targets computers.
Fiasco is part of the DROPS (Dresden real time operating system) runs only on x86.
Pistachio embedded runs on all the architectures of Pistachio but the main target is in the embedded market so there are different optimization.
If the goal of the project is mimic one of those systems there are at least these things todo:
choose one of the three,
decide whether to change something in the api and what,
change the idl4 compiler to emit D code (this just help the IPC programming),
study these projects: Iguana, wombat, l4env, darbat, l4linux, mungi.
