No preference here - I can't think of any objection to either one if implemented well.

I extracted the eclipse SDK (version 3.0.2, linux GTK), and then extracted eclipseD 0.2.2 into the eclipse folder. Is this the correct way to install it?

Please, please add a new theme, maybe "subsilver-original" or whatever for people who prefer black text.
It's just that blue-ish grey foreground against grey background makes for lousy contrast and ... |
